    Hey

I have been offered a place in college for the coming year, and am thinking I would like to take it. But is there work available that would fit in around college? I used to work in a bar when I was initially in college but that was along time ago when things were alot better.

Does anyone have any suggestions where to start looking even? Im in the Carlow area, but can travel if necessary.

    Thanks

When I was in college , I worked nights in a nursing home. I use to have four days of college per week and early finish on Wednesdays, so I would work those two nights and every friday. Not ideal, it didnt interfere to much with my workload as I was able to spend those working nights studying, as it was a very quiet place and there was 10+ hours that I could sit down during. If thats not for you, you could a night security guard or something.Or maybe a factory or similar, but that would probably mean working every weekend which would be awful after a few months.

I was thinking about a factory all right, but I think that the fabrication industry has gone way down, to the extent that there is no jobs available for working full time.

Im not sure I would suit a nursing home or night guard. I have no experience in either area.

Thanks for the advice, I will start sending CV's around to local hotels and start a search for factory work as well.

I worked industrial security for my four years in college. I worked 4 x 12 hour shifts - Thursday, Friday, Sat & Sun night. This worked alright because the hours in college were small enough. The massive advantage was I had feck all to do except study :D

Working as a waiter can suit too. I work mostly nights and weekends. It does mean occasionally getting home at 3 or 4am and getting up at 7 the next day for college but that's what coffee's for.

I worked through nights on the weekends in college in a poker club. Tough work switching sleep schedules every weekend but it can be done. I done it for 2 years.
