I had a tough time in school and I found it very difficult but I thought I would've done pretty well,I got an F in maths and I was so shocked..I am not going to repeat,I'll just do a plc course so even if I failed my leaving cert is it that bad?

Firstly, there is no such thing as failing the Leaving Cert :)

If you can find a way to do what you want to do, then in a few years time, no one will care how you did in the Leaving Cert. If you ever needed to go back and pass maths, you can do it on its own for the year, without the other subjects. If you're happy with the rest and you can do a PLC that you like, well then it isn't bad at all :)

I was 100+ points off from my course in 2009. One year PLC later and I am now in DCU heading into 3rd year (hopefully).

Anyways, there a way around everything.

Posted this in another thread. All the best Dylan.
I usually say this around this time every year.

To anyone who wasn't happy with their results, firstly calm down!

Secondly, there is a way around EVERYTHING.

When I did my LC in 2009, I only had my heart one course. When I got my results I was 100+ points off and got no offers off CAO the following Monday.

I looked at my options and I found a one year PLC course that would allow me entry into my course, no points required! I am now entering 3rd year of that course (hopefully, damn you repeats ).

Eitherway, it was great feeling logging into CAO in 2010 and seeing this.

If anyone interested in a doing a science or engineering degree in DCU or DIT and feels they didn't get enough points, pm and I'll pass the PLC course onto you!

Mate, I got 190 points in my leaving cert in 99. Now I have a PLC/Degree and Masters and I am currently proposing for a PhD. If you want to do better in academia it is nothing to do with brains....its how motivated you are as a person to do want you want to do. :)
