I bought 'cheap' ink, now printer won't print

A few days ago I needed both colour and black ink cartridges for my HP Deskjet F2480. Money was tight so I decided to save €8 by getting Tesco re-manufactured ink.

This turned out to be a big mistake as now the printer won't print. I have all the drivers installed and my laptop is recognising the printer.

The booklet inside the ink said something like "when you insert the ink cartridge in your printer the levels will display as empty, ignore this and continue printing". It did print at first and this problem only occurred after I switched the printer off and back on again.

I have Windows 7 and Ubuntu 12.04 on my laptop and the printer won't print using either OS. Also I tried photocopying something and it won't work so it seems to be a problem with the printer and not my computer.

Is there any way of getting it to print or should I just remove the Tesco ink and get HP ink? Money is still tight so I don't want to just throw out €30 worth of ink if there's another option.

Depending on your printer you may have an option to ignore low ink levels, should be in your printer settings someplace

Had a similar problem with a hp printer and cheap ink from eBay . The cartridges weren't been read properly and the ink was also clogging up . Took out the cheap ones , cleaned with IPA and put in proper ink . All working fine since . If U get proper cartridges U can get them refilled after that tho I would do sone research here and online to find which service is best . .
