If they are going to close a major route like Stephens Green, especially if its part of a major one way system can some one have some common sense and put signs to this effect BEFORE people enter the area and not just in the immediate vicinity.

I've lost count the number of times there's some closure and there no warning until your on top of it, thus not giving you the opportunity to go around it. Took me an extra 35 mins on my commute this morning, to get out of this mess and around it.

Also non of the major stations give any decent traffic updates like this. Even when they whole city was closing down with snow or flooding, the main stations have some banal crud on. Only Dublin City Radio give out proper traffic news. You can't listen to that every day.

Actually to be fair to Dublin Bus they appear to have their act together on this, highlighting this yesterday:

But no substitute for good advance warning on-street or on the radio.

In fairness here has been a big illuminated sign at the to of Leeson St all week warning about the closure and I have heard it on the radio several times even on proper radio stations, granted Dublin City Radio is pretty bad but you only have to listen to it for long enough to get a traffic report.

Actually, not to hijack you rant but why can't Sarah Francis stick to giving out traffic reports instead of rambling on about music that they don't have while we are passing turn offs for potential alternative routes? The chap that is on in the evenings seems to have the right mixture of information and music so that you are getting the information in time to avoid the problems instead of getting stuck and hearing how long you are jammed for.

Were they not talking about Dawson Street being closed for the reception since maybe Sunday or Monday?

I listen to the radio all week and I've not heard about closures. All I heard was there would be a reception but that didn't seem to that certain.

I pass lesson st (the bottom half) a couple of times a day and I've not seen that. Mind your usually to busy watching people merging to have enough time to notice the sign.

Is there some email or sms service you can sub to for these closures?
