I live near Moate, and everyday early in the morning, and around 6.30-7pm, an Aw139 flys over and back over the house, is this based in Athlone now for the air ambulance role?

Sounds to me like it's positioning into Athlone early and returning to Bal in the evening. I had heard ops finish daily around 19:00, tallies with your times.

I wonder how long before the next incident. Found out recently they had a wire strike on the 135 while working up for the service. This was before the famous 'heavy landing'.

Typical IAC fashion returning to Bal for tea. They used to do this with the Dauphin's on the Eithne back in the 80's aswell.
