    Hello all, just a quickie.
Could anybody give me the number to get Sky disconnected without spending too much on the call. I have to call from a mobile and don't have too much credit/ don't fancy listening to classical music for 20 minutes.

    Thanks
    Steve

You wont have much choice. the only number that Im aware of for all things to do with Sky is 0818 719819. I'd suggest waiting until after 7 before ringing or alternatively use a friend's land line or even a public payphone.

Ringing that number from a mobile will cost you a small fortune.

Dont pay em, they wont be long cutting you out,,,save a phone call,:D

Plus they put you through2 or 3 different people and even hold you at the end for 5-10 mins just so you will hang up and continue to pay them. They are experts in trying to gte you not to cancel!
    All from recent experience.

If you don't pay, you will be disconnected ... no call needed

The cheapest method of calling would appear to be a landline call to 0818-719852
It's five or six times dearer to use a mobile, so use a payphone (or your mammy's phone) to save some bucks.

Compare the landline cost to mobile costs here ...

Here is a UK number, if you happen to have any free UK minutes available 0044 20 7126 7020
Sign up here for free and get 1c per minute to the UK www.13434.ie

Thanks for advice. I will try this evening on a land line then. I'm gonna start screaming at the first poor person I speak to and demand they cut me off or someone can call me back :)
It's funny how I can get through so quick when i call to add services.

I just tested that UK 0044 number and it works. Also, you don't have to make an advance payment to 13434.ie so you can dial immediately.

30 minutes will cost you 35 cents from a landline or a mobile (if you have free irish landline minutes)

When you get through tell them you are emigrating to France. They wont try to talk you out of it then.

Is it normal to get through to a German speaking call centre when trying to make first call from a mobile, using 13434.ie. The number the registration e-mail gave to call was 014364145.

Can you not cancel through one of their advisors online?
They allow you to add services and seem to be able to make callbacks etc, surely they can cancel too?

They wont take cancellations online as I have tried this in the past.

    You're right.. it is german!
I called 01-6850850 and it is english .... they call you back once to verify the setup/number

    FROM THEIR FAQ:
    From mobiles*:
Dial 01 6 850 850 or 021 2422422, wait for the voiceprompt and enter the follow-on telephone number. After dialling the follow-on telephone number do NOT press the green ?send? button on your mobile again otherwise the call may be carried by your mobile operator!

    +1.

It's Sky. They make it as hard as possible for you to cancel. This is one of their areas of expertise.

Wow, they'll gladly add packages / multiroom etc online but wont cancel?
    Makes no sense.
Arent they obliged to take it in writing from you? Is there a physical address you could send it to?

If you log in to my sky and click contact us, then select TV, there is an option to cancel. It also states an agent is available for live chat (if not, it will go green within a few refreshes). Surely this wouldnt be here if you couldnt do it online?
If not, could you not state your intention to cancel to the agent in live chat and that this is your 31 days notice and request they confirm your cancellation by phone or email within 7 days?

2 months ago I emailed Sky with a couple of questions including the question of if I could cancel by email. They replied to the couple of other points but refused to say if I could cancel by email. I asked them again and got this reply
Thank you for contacting Sky Help Centre.

Further to your reply I can confirm that we are unable to deal with your account as we can only deal with UK accounts.

You must call our Irish call centre regarding your account on 0818 719 819
So I asked again and got the same reply. I then asked for an address in Ireland that I could write to and got the same reply.

I emailed a complaint about their failure to answer my question and I was again told to ring the premium rate number. This has been ongoing for 2 months now and every time I email them I get the same message and it takes a week for them to reply which is contrary to what they indicate on their web site.

Grand, thanks. I'll try English first then, if not my partner speaks german so she can call for me.

    Thanks all,
I am ashamed to say that I gave in to temptation and agreed to transfer sky to our new house for €13.50 pcm. I'm thoroughly annoyed with myself for being talked into it but I'm not sure I could live without sky+ box and can't afford an equivalent piece of kit at the moment.

I called them, it took 3-4 minutes with the first guy and when my credit ran out on phone they called back straight away. First I was offered free move and €50 credit, which i refused, and then i was offered half price for 6 months (13.50 for all non premium channels).

I'm sure that anyone else on sky who fancies 6 months half price could do the same.

I used 13434.ie's phone service and they charge 1c per minute to a UK landline and 10c per minute to 0818 (vs 20c normal charge on tesco mob), plus the free minutes.

Thats a good enough deal and I wouldnt be ashamed to say it.

There's a lot to be said for the Sky+ features and it's hard to do without it when you're used to the convenience of it all.

I stated earlier that I once tried to cancel via the live chat but they were having none of it but I just went through the process you outlined above and this is what I got
