Hey, I was driving today and well, some mad dude started beeping me because I didn't let him overtake bus.

We were driving, bus was in front of us two (on his lane), bus started stopping, I was in same distance with this purple guy (which turns out was a girl later), in toyota yaris, yes I agree I increased speed to overtake bus as soon as I can (as it just stopped, I am always afraid that some pedestrian might step out in front so I try and overtake bus as soon as it stops so no one gets time to get out yet), this purple yaris started beeping me like mad for not letting him/her pass. She started turning as my front of car was with her center of car, so technically I should've applied brakes and reversed a bit to let her through. So who was right? Me for taking my rights driving on that lane, as allowing someone through is just a matter of kindness or was she right?

I mean isn't there such a thing that if you are changing lane you are lowest priority , as in you must observe and make sure the changing lane is safe to do so?

You were in the right, she shouldnt have pulled in to top of you, you were already in lane and she had no right to position in your lane.
What was not right was the fact that you obstructed the flow of traffic by stopping and reversed on (what seems like) a main road.
When you are doing your test you never beckon anyone on, you drive defensively and just worry what you are doing. The more you drive you will find people who get very agitated over little things, dont rise to them, if they want to rant and blast the horn, I find the most effective response to be a friendly wave or smile

Lots of red cards on the other side.

On Topic, I would agree about you being in the right.

Lol love it! I have this image of someone waving with a big smile on their face and the other driver with smoke coming out their ears:pac:

OP, the woman in the yaris was wrong - she should not have tried to pull out in front of you.

If you think a wave or a smile makes them mad, try blowing them a kiss.

Why did you not move on and get out of her and the bus' way?

Was there traffic in front of you or other obstruction such as a red light?

She should not have attempted to barge her way into your lane in stopped traffic. All such lane changes should be made in moving traffic although it is common to look for and sometimes get let in during slow moving traffic. Problems happen when one lane is fast and the other is stalled for some reason.
Moral of the story for her is to avoid lanes containing busses, bin lorries, delivery lorries etc as these are liable to stop suddenly at any time and can cause immense frustration in our traffic choked cities.

It wasn't really slow moving traffic,

lord no, do not suddenly brake and start reversing on a main road when you were progressing normally, especially not to let someone impatient past you

Glad someone else had the sense to pick up on this.
