Does anybody have any opinions on this bike?

    http://www.formebikes.co.uk/bikes/road/longcliffe2.php

How would you rank it against the Giant Defy 2 or other similar priced bikes as a first road bike on the BTW scheme?

    Thanks for an replies/opinions:)

Have I posted this in the wrong place? I was hoping some of the experienced cyclists on the forum could share their opinion on the Longcliffe 2.0?

Yeah I have read what is out there, just wanted to know what people on boards thought. I actually have this bike now and really like. 160km up in the first week and so far so good.

It is my first road bike though and first time on a bike properly since I was a teenager. I assume most bikes are very similar in that price bracket. The bike is just less well known than maybe Giant or Trek but that may not be a bad thing?

Main thing is that I like it I suppose:)

    Hello,

I just bought this bike!! I bought from a local bike shop owned by a family of cyclists. I had previously ridden a hybrid and prior to this purchase I was riding a Giant Defy. The Forme is a really good looking and well built bike. It is a solid ride, light and fast. I have seen it on two sites reduced from 999 to 750 and 799. At that price its a real bargain! Flannagan cycles and fitzcycles. The Forme longcliffe 1.0 is reduced to 1000 so you could get an even better bike for the bike to work limit! Don't get pushed into the whole add on package stuff in the bike shop! Bottle cages, bottles, pumps etc can be got for next to nothing online! Spend all the money on the bike!

You won't be sorry going for this bike and I think you get better bang for your buck when buying a lesser known brand.

    Good luck!

    * Sorry, in my eagerness to answer I didn't read the above!! As a matter of interest what did you pay for the bike?

In the September 2012 edition of Cycling Active (link), the Forme Longcliffe 1.0 is tested against 3 other bikes and was ranked in 2nd place behind a carbon Ribble. There were no complaints to speak of and the frame and handling got praise.

Compairing the 1.0 (tested) against the 2.0 (your bike), the more expensive 1.0 has a better spec:
    • mostly 105 rather than Tiagra
    • Better rims (same hubs)
    • Frame - same geometry but 1.0 has smooth welds and triple butting
... but is otherwise very similar.

Looks like you got yourself a nice one - well wear!

I got a Forme bike from last years line - full carbon frame with 105 groupset. I have to say I'm really pleased with it so far, fantastic bike for the price!

Thanks for the replies folks, nice to know its a decent enough bike from other cyclists!I am very happy with it. my local bike shop were selling it at €940 when I got it and all the places I looked at that time were selling it at €1000. Prices have come down since and one of those shops selling at €750 is having an August sale/clear out and that is their last one (trying to make my self feel better!).

I like the fact I got it locally anyway as if I have any problems I can call in

    Hi All

I have had this bike since Jan 2013. Love it - very well priced bought mine of Cyclize in Navan and cost 750 eur. Use it mainly for training. Found the bike super light as I was on a steel framed Dawes for many years beforehand.

Brought the bike out on a 90 k spin over the weekend and we did a 30 k time trial in between and averaging 35 -38 k, was so surprised the bike was keeping up with more expensive Felt and Trek bikes

Well recommend for beginners into serious cycle training. Mine came with Tiagra gear set , mavic rims and is the red and black model

    Well happy with my purchase

    Would highly recommend
