Irish Times "special offers"- have they no shame?

Where's Conor Pope when you need him to investigate an aspect of rip-off Ireland working from his own office?

Today's offer, for example: 'Luxurious overnight stay for two at Four Seasons Hotel Dublin including breakfast & dinner.' The price of this "deal"? €325. But it's down, according to The Irish Times, from €580 so you "save" €255.

€580 for dinner, bed and breakfast for two people for a single night in Dublin? Yeah, right. What sort of idiots do they take people for. (It's €380 on the Four Seasons website this moment so I hope The Irish Times isn't engaging in false advertising.)

Here's a whole list of previous Irish Times special offers. They are embarrassing for anybody who has checked the actual prices of these hotels, restaurants, etc and can see their own deals are much cheaper than anything The Irish Times packages as a "deal".

The paper's Travel "special deals" are equally cringeworthy. The "bargains" recommended by Joan Scales are anything but a bargain as anybody with internet access can find out very quickly. It makes me wonder what sort of people The Irish Times is targeting with these "offers". Old people who do not have internet access must top the list.
