a friend wants to replace old tv with new one, screen size has to be 40" but I had a look at a few and noticed they only have one scart, !! they have a sky+ sd box, a dvd player and a security camera, camera is hooked to scart 2 and comes on when activated by movement ie it switches to camera channel and then will switch back.

with a new tv, with only 1 scart they will be stuck. i have looked at lg, samsung, toshiba, phillips, sony, panasonic but all have the one scart.

is there a model i have missed that will have 2 scarts or is there a work round, they wont go hd via sky?

    Hmmm.

Have you tried, as a test to plug the Camera Scartlead into the VCR Scart input on the Skybox itself? So then there is only 1 Scart lead going to TV from Skybox.

I've noticed the scart control pin seems to successfully override the Sky picture when done this way using a DVD player or VCR (losing RGB though not an issue maybe for a camera). Turn DVD player off, and it reverted back to Sky.

It might be worth a try to see if it works...

I've not seen any TV in a while, bar an oddly named Vestel-rebadge, that has 2 Scart sockets anymore. Shame really as I doubt Scart sockets cost much?

You could also use a modulator to convert the camera output and add it to the aerial lead as an analogue TV channel.

You could just buy a secondhand HD box and ask Sky to pair the card. No extra per month and you get some free HD channels like BBC HD and RTE2 HD. You also get more recording space etc.
