Hey guys. Noob question for you. I've been out of gym action for a few weeks now due to sickness.

My body fat has gone back over the 10% mark. In the past I'd normal tackle the fat through high intensity, intervals etc on the treadmill.

However lately I've starting doing some set pace jogging alfresco.

So my question. Is the 300 calories (for example) burnt on the treadmill on the above mentioned programmes any different to the 300 burnt outdoors?

My (very) limited understanding is that 300 cals is 300 clas no matter how you do it.

Only thing is that intervals are better for fat loss and may help you better with overall conditioning too.. you could probably burn the same amount of calories in half the time with intervals too.

Road running i find more difficult, but i believe there are benefits to mixing it up and not just doing the same thing all the time as your body may get used to it.

Not an expert by any means but i would think you are better off doing intervals on the treadmill.

Better still... do them outside and it's win win
