Im contemplating doing a diy repair on some small scratches on the OH's dads car.

    Pic is attached.

I've to get the compound, and I've seen a fair few tutorials on how to do it, making a template of the scratches, getting the paint match from the vin/licence number and using fine sandpaper.

I'll be doing the work in a garage.

Any hints or tips for a first timer?
I imagine the first is like a carpenter, measure three times, do once, so I'll be taking it slow, and giving it two to three days.

I know in my head I can do it, just looking for tips/reassurance?

    thanks guys :)
