ok guys - this has been much debated!!!! So what is the honest opinion - air to water or oil and high efficiency rads with solar and stove with back boiler.

For the purpose of this debate let's assume a 3000sq ft south facing house with full airtight construction and mvhr system installed.

Also let's assume the insulation spec is excellent with 200mm pumped cavity Walls with all the usual high insulation spec these days!!

So what is the best heating system in terms of initial cost and also on going costs????????

If yr insulations that good, the cheapest most basic pratical system possible...especially if you've loads of thermal mass to hold the heat...cos you'll hardly use it...
A very expensive super efficent system will save a fortune in huge badly insulated draughty house, but ....
