not a hope having 2 gigs with the amount of work it takes to set up one, leave everything there for 2 months, too much stock for MCD not to have in their inventory for that long. With oxegen back next year also it will be needed there in early July. That stuff literally goes from gig to gig all year round.

They wont leave everything , once one gig is over they will tear the place down , the re-build it for the 2nd gig

In this day and age where MCD are watching every penny that's just not feasable. IF they do have 2 gigs it'll be on consecutive weekends, and they'll keep the arena and stage all set up

Robbie Williams is good, the only Slane I wasn't impressed by was Madonna.

Can't see there being two next year myself.

It would take something very special for me to go to a gig in this kip

Metallica......NOT. I wouldn't go to that kip to see them. Went twice in the 90s when it was better organised. Now these gigs are taken over by far too many scummers.

Slane did hold two dates in the venue before:

U2 held two gigs on seperate weekends back in the early 00's

One thing for certain ... if there are 2 dates , you'll need wellies for both.

How wouldn't it be feasible? If they only had one gig then they'd have to set-up everything the day before and tear everything down after the event anyway? I assume they'd have a profit margin on one gig so they'd just treat it as two separate gigs with same amount of work required for both.

Of course they'd make more money if they ran it on consecutive weekends but I wouldn't call it unfeasible to run them completely separate.

That's what happened with the U2 gigs. Two separate weekends, two completely different set of support acts.

i'd say it's more likely MCD have preliminarily booked it for 2 different dates to keep their options open. after that they'll decide who/when the gig will be.

Mountcharles has essentially nothing to do with the gig itself and talks complete sh1te constantly, so I wouldn't believe anything he says.

I would love to see the Coronas play Slane next year! They should have three good Bands, Coronas, Florance, SnowPatrol!

I know we say it every year but fingers crossed for ACDC! :)

New album and tour apparently confirmed for 2013 musicfeeds.com.au/news/acdc-tour-confirmed-for-2013/ and its their 40th anniversary.

Maybe this time the stars have aligned! Last chance i'm thinking.

Malcolm was quoted recently as saying the new album is a couple of years off yet, so I wouldn't hold my breath for AC/DC next year.

Green Day would be a terrible choice , nowhere near big enough surely they only sold 20,000 for their last outdoor show . Stones prob will

Rolling Stones and Bon Jovi - two nights. Both touring in 2013.

I reckon so - possibly a Bruce Springsteen turnout is also being considered, depends on the promoter I guess!

no mention of two dates but says the headliners will be there so rule out Green Day for once.

The Stones are in Europe at the moment, high probability it will be them but would love someone like AC/DC (like most others) or maybe Muse and Coldplay but we could guess til the cows come home and we could all end up wrong

Have a big feeling it will be the Rolling Stones for the first slane date (Really wanted to see them in Croke Park or The Aviva :().

could be a chance of U2, The Script, Coldplay, Green Day or even Stone Roses.

Slane is an MCD event, so I doubt Springsteen will be there, as he has a long-running relationship with Aiken AFAIK.

No, but then again i thought that about KoL

Sure people will go just because it's Slane

Dead right, Jim Aiken, the original Owner of Aiken, who has since passed, brought Springsteen over here for the first time. But it was Slane, so im nearly sure Henry and himself meet up every once and a while too..........

    Let the rumours abound!!

Rules Springsteen out in my opinion, hes on in NYC the same night

They've sold out the Odyssey three nights and the O2 three nights aswell -
    14,500 and 10,800 capacities, thats 100 shy of 80,000..

Only one headliner will be there on Tuesday, this has Stones wrote all over it imo.

Again? It would be unusual to have a headline act play again so soon. Not that I'd be complaining.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,539 ✭✭✭ghostdancer

what big acts have played/sold out the o2 or outdoor over the last few months?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 780 ✭✭✭jossnjuice

checked it out with one of my mates and have it on good authority its the Stones.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,065 ✭✭✭aka accounts 2010

If it is the Stones, do we think that ticket prices will so somewhere around 2011 prices, ie €80 ish plus fees or will they be increased.

Also, do we think that both headliners will be confirmed or just the June gig?
