I myself 100% support the Dubs, But supporting others teams can be bit of a problem due to close family connections. We are all pretty close and would all mix and match at social occasions quite regularly,

My wifes sister husband is from Galway.
My sisters husband is from Donegal.
My brothers wifes mothers family all hail from Mayo.
My daughters husband is from Kildare and they live in Laois.
My other daughter & sil live in Meath,so I can expect my granddaughter to be a meath women.
My mothers sister lives in Belfast (Down/Antrim)
We also have very close relations in Cavan.

It can get a bit heated around here at this time of year and especially with leinster teams

Anyone else have cross over relations from different counties ?

I know of loads but thankfully I have only my wife who was born in Dublin but both her parents were staunch Louth supporters. They never forgave the Meath supporters for hanging out black flags in 1957 in Julianstown as they made their way to Croke Park. Despite moving to Dublin they were Louth through and through.

My sister lives in Roscommon but Dublin flags out her window. Her kids wore Dublin jerseys to school the Friday before this years all-Ireland U/21 Final. Oh and they gave their money to the charity fund.
My wife has cousins on Armagh panel and 2 on Crossmaglen panel. Great banter but never any aggro.

Must be great crack living on Cork / Kerry, Galway/Mayo or Tipp/Cork/Waterford where there are bound to loads of mixed marrages

Thankfully I married a Cork woman - of several generations;)

The odd friend I have from Kerry or Kilkenny are great for the bit of banter in the lead up to a game though.

I do find that - over time - a 'friendly' rivalry can be made on this site, if some posters don't act the díck too often that is.

Mine too, thank God. A few unfortunate in laws here and there are from beyond The Pale, but I really couldn't be bothered about keeping any of them (well all of them really, if I'm honest :D ) happy with who I root for when their counties are in action. There is only so much that ones heart, mind & sphincter can be expected to go to to battle stations for !

Ah stop ... I now live out in North Dublin .. Missus Docta is from a village on the Dublin/Meath border .. herself, FIL and one brother are staunch royals, MIL and other brother are Dubs (the royal brother was born in Dublin & dub brother born in Meath  ).

I told a mixed audience at our wedding that we met in '99 - last Meath AI, got engaged '01 Meaths last appearance in AI and that one of the deciding reasons to get married was to put the final nail in the coffin ;) - so far so good :D ... think I was booed louder than a Joe Sheridan free .. lol

myself and my siblings were born and raised in Dublin but both of our parents are from Westmeath. My dad dragged me to any Westmeath game in Croke Park which was always against Meath (I will never hate a team more than these shower of c.u.n.t.s). I grew up supporting Westmeath because I had cousins on the panel before kick to my bollocks from my brothers when they started calling me a culchie and threatened that I would have to live with my cousins on their farm for the rest of my life. That put the fear in me so I happily started supporting my own county. I always check the Westmeath results and was secretly delighted for them in 2004 when they beat Dublin on their way to their first ever Leinster championship.

Kerry born and reared, my mother and the vast majority of my relations are from Cork. Good oul' banter for the most part.

A cousin of mine brought a Cork headband to my wedding shortly after Cork won the All-Ireland in 2010. I had to keep him happy and pose for a photograph with it on at about 2 in the morning. Haven't seen the photo since, thank god! :)

Missus wanted me to pose in Meath jersey before this years Leinster Final, so she could post it on her Facebook page .. told her I'd rather be on the s*x offenders register :D

all my family originate in Galway, and im a born and bred dub, but was brought up supporting galway and still do to this day!

The amount of schtick i get off my mates is unbelieveable too (You're not from galway, so why support them etc etc!)

    Whats the black flags about?

Think the flags was sign of mourning ... there wasn't a lotta love between Louth & Meath pre Joe Sheridan either ya know !

    I'm from Roscommon.

My father is from Roscommon, my mother is from Offaly, so I always look out for Offaly's results.

The OH is from Donegal, have been to a few of their games this year and will be at the semi final against Cork.

Was born in Ballinasloe and grew up near the border with Galway and would always shout for Galway hurlers. Have a good few relations there aswell and lived in the city for 3 years.

But at the end of it all, Hyde Park will always be home ;)

I'm a Dub, as are the Mam & Dad. The two grandad's were dubs too. Grans are culchies but not from a competitive county, Louth & Cavan, and not much contact with relations there.

But I went and married a Corkwoman - thankfully she doesn't take much of an interest but I've had to put up with a fair bit of baiting over the last 10 years from the Buttevant area. All makes for sweeter victories when they come though...I'd love a Dubs v Cork final this year...my little 1 yr old has a 100% record in AI finals so far...compared to my wrotten record of 3 in 34 yrs...lets hope she keeps it up:D

Myself, my brother and sister were all born in Louth.

My father is from Armagh and mother is from Monaghan. My fathers brothers and sisters live in Antrim and Dublin, my mother's family span over Mayo and Kildare too.

Still noone to support in the semis as we don't like my uncle from Dublin :-)

LOL... Reasoned anti-Dublin bias ... I can handle that ;)

Parents are Dubs like me, I had a granny from Wexford. So apart from the Dublin hurling and football games we use to watch the Wexford hurlers with my Dad, he loved them, however my brothers and I had no real attachment to Wexford, we only wanted them to win to keep him happy, however we would secretly shout for Kilkenny as back then Eamon Morrissey and Christy Heffernan were so good to watch. I did always note that Wexford had fantastically enthusiastic supporters though. I was glad when they won the final in 96.

these things don't take long to get out of your blood, but that is the nature of the GAA, it's your club team, your area, your side of the city/town and your county.
Not much left after that, particularly when your a Dub as mutual support is not as common "No VietCong Ever Called Me a Jackeen". :)
