On the RTÉ player there is currently a short piece (~15min) of footage showing Knock airport right after its opening and towards the end there are some interesting shots of a 732 and a 707 taking off in the classic EI livery. Most of it is quite boring though :) See here: http://www.rte.ie/player/#!v=10038725

Interesting to see again, was there as a child with thousands others to see those planes. Didn't Monsignor Horan die on that trip ? With his been the first coffin to arrive back into Knock.

Monsignor Horan died while on pilgrimage to Lourdes, just a few months after the official opening of the airport.
The airport was officially opened on 30 May 1986, however the first commercial flights operated seven months earlier on 25 October 1985 in the form of three Aer Lingus charter flights to Rome

    ;)
