Just wondering what people think of her chances at taking any medal today?

To me and what little I know she seems to have a chance maybe? She's 10/1 worth a bet??

    Thanks

My heart says yes but my head says not worth a bet

Top 10 would be a good acheivement.

Olive will be in the top 8 I think....after that, well let's see....fingers crossed. If she's anywhere near the lead group after 10-12km then it should be exciting as she is renowned for finishing strongly.

Give me 25/1 and I would risk some money.

She's not in contention right now but racing well. In the top 10 at the moment! 10th place behind a chasing group.

Nothing to worry about....promising enough so far, she'll finish very strongly.

This race is a joke. Slo Mo' of the leaders at water station shows that they are both RUNNING

and they show very few slow motion replays for that reason.

Pretty much everyone in the field is 'lifting'. The event is a complete joke.

Probably no medal today for Olive but bettering her top 7 finish of Beijing is still a possibility. She's 58 secs off 3rd place at the halfway mark.

The rules state that must be caught by the naked eye (i.e be broken contact for more than 0.5 seconds or something like that)

So you can't judge from Slow Motion pictures

So it's a completely subjective thing: whatever an individual judge decides is lifting gets a card even though cameras show everyone is doing the same thing. They are having a complete guess. I would say that the slow motion pictures prove the judges are pretty much useless.

The whole event is a farce. Probably the most ridiculous event in the Olympics as whole. If we ever want track and field become popular, the walks need to be dropped.

Even to the naked eye here, Lashmanova is running. She is just running slowly. We are seeing somebody get a medal for running badly.

I was thinking there, surely if you were coming down the home straight and it was tight for a place you would just start sprinting it if you hadn't already received 2 warnings. They can only give you 1 warning for a bit of sprinting right?

Not sure if id call 20k in 90 mins running slow :o

If the best women can run 5k in 15 mins how can someone legally walk 20k in 90 mins or 22 minutes to exptrapolate it down (not accounting for longer distance and fatigue)

If I can do it without breaking sweat then it is slow.

Hats off to Laura Reynolds...smashed her P.B. by well over a minute, possibly a minute and a half, and finishes 20th...she'll only get better over the next 4 years.
