Authentic desserts

    So,

Nearly every "ethnic" restaurant in Ireland serves "standard" desserts - bought in ice-cream or sorbets, ususally printed on a laminated sheet with stock photos with names like "Ice Cream Dream", "Pineapple Pleasure", stuff like that.

Surely to god there are authentic desserts, sweets or puddings in Chinese, Indian, Moroccon, Lebanese, Korean, Thai or whatever cuisine.

Why do most of them, even the top end ones, serve these shíte desserts? It takes the gloss off the meal for me. Wonderful rices, breads, sauces, flavour combinations, succulent meats, crunchy veg, excellent quality food, cooked by masterful chefs with skill and poise, then for dessert you get some tacky, mass produced old rubbish as an afterthought.

    I want genuine desserts dammit!

Can anyone recommend a place where they have them? Or failing that, stick up a few recipes?
