If he doesn't you may be better walking away he could try pin it on you if anything goes wrong.

If he doesn't listen you could report it to enviromental health or ESB as a major safety issue.

As you know could kill, injure or cause a fire.

In my dad's house years ago plumber put in a triton wired up through garage roof found a broken old twisty fuse holder and wrapped with tape and pulled cable so tight it held it to the wall.
Don't worry sorted it after a few years always kept saying should fix that :D:D All safe now

    Those pictures are rotten!

That said I think that wall mounted instant electric showers are a mental idea in the first place in so many ways. I'm grumpily looking forward to seeing if they'll be banned when I'm an OAP. :D

They're a great job in houses that don't have Oil central heating but if you have a good oil oiler does the job much better. Also they last less than 10 years!

I'm not sure what the existing situation is, but it should be completely illegal to install an electric shower yourself.

Of all aspects of an electrical installation, they are by far the most potentially lethal.

I don't see why it should be any less regulated than the gas installations.

I also think it would be reasonable for rental properties to be required to have a basic electrical certification periodically. E.g. at first rental and then every 5 years or so with a legal requirement that all work be carried out by a licensed electrician.

Every time the property was let would probably be too much as some have quite short 1 year turn overs.

It's one thing if you're putting yourself in danger, it's another if you're putting rental tenants in danger!
