    Hi lads,

Just noticed this on the bonnet of my car today. Pretty sure its only manifested itself over the last few weeks/months as I never noticed it before. Would you think its a resray job or is it salvageable in any other way? Car is a black 2005 Octavia.

Tbh it looks like only sanding it all down and respraying it would do.
Car is only 7 years old, paint usually last longer than that. Have you had it from new?
Rather than a respray you can see if anyone is breaking a similar car and just change the bonnet out, probably cheapest.

I have had it 18 months. Surprised myself to see it that bad so young in the cars life and it seems to have come on very quickly without me really noticing. May have had a bad respray in its past but I doubt it. From looking closer at it this evening it looks like it will need to be re sprayed.

Start looking on donedeal and adverts for people breaking cars.
    Local breakers might have something.
You could get a nice bonnet for under 100 and replace yourself.

Have to say, that is extremely strange for a 2005 car.

Has the car been parked anywhere different recently, in a strange environment?

To be honest, Id be taking a spin down to the local Skoda garage and see if they'll replace it on "good will"......the paint is only 7 years old and to be honest, even if you wer to look after the car in the worst way, it still wouldnt do this!
Thats provided you havent put something on it that shouldnt be, or that the bonnet hasnt been sprayed previously!

I'm guessing the paint is newer than the car. Is it happening on the wings or roof?

Is the same happening elsewhere? If not, well then its down to a dodgy paint job on the bonnet. One thing that I have seen to cause this is when paint and hardener are mixed in the wrong ratios.

The bonnet is the only part of the car affected and at that its only on the drivers side half of the bonnet. Car is washed every week so it's been looked after in my ownership at least.

Maybe its had a repsray earlier in its life that wasnt done right but I cant see any obvious evidence of this anywhere. It's annoying me now as it looks terrible so I'll have to take care of it.

it's a poor respray 100%. factory paintwork can last forever if not damaged.
    it will need a respray.
