    Irish Muaythai Council Team head to Russia

    11 Strong Fighter Head to take on the Worlds best fighters in the World Championships held under the IOC & IFMA WMC
    130 Countries take part from all over the world over 9 day where fighters will be expected to weigh in every day and possible be fighting every day depending on how many fighters are in there weight division
    Tough Challenge for the Irish Team but they are all really looking forward to it.
    The Irish Team have been in training all over the Country for the last few weeks getting read for this event and with only 4 weeks to go now they will all be in top shape
    The Team will travel to beautiful St. Petersburg for the 2012 championships in September, which will be the qualifying event for the 2013 Sports Accord Combat Games under patronage of the IOC.
    Ireland is planning to send a full team to this event, and the competition will be of the highest stander,

    With the Olympics just over and Ireland doing so well in the boxing I'm sure everyone who is involved in the world championships will be buzzing after it and will be trying 200% to win the medals and do there country proud !

    I'd love to of been going but have a big fight coming up in Australia and then again in Birmingham on the 30th of September so can't risk injury . Hopefully next year :)

    Great opportunity for young Gavin i can see him going very far , all going well Ireland will have a great games !

    IFMA World Championship Russia 2012 Irish Team

    The Irish Muay Thai Council would like to wish the best of luck to the IMC Irish National Team setting off for St. Petersburg, Russia on 5th September 2012.
    The team will compete with over 100 other countries, over this 10 day event, which will see them matched against some very strong opponents from all over the world.

    The Irish Team –
    Mark Casserly, Alan Gannon, Paul Norton (Chupsart, Dublin)
    Brian Long, Christian Sheehan, Gavin Sheehan, Denise O'Connell, Siobhan Foley (Sitjaipetch, Cork)
    Mike Harty SjP, ( Hanuman Galway)
    Gary Walsh and Megan Maher, (WMT Waterford)
    IMC Team Manager and Coach Mr. Craig O'Flynn, (Sitjaipetch, Ireland )

    The team has been training hard for the past 8 weeks and is looking forward to this huge challenging task a head of them.
    Thanks to all our sponsors and everybody who has supported, and helped out getting the team this far,
    Next Stop St. Petersburg Russia, were we are look forward to the Competion and returning with some medals.

    The Bigger the Challenge the better we perform : )

    Megan, Alan, Brian & Paul all weighed in bang on, fed and watered and are ready for road....show kicks off at 2.30pm(11.30am Irish Time)

    Megan is the 3rd fight, Brian 8th fight, Paul 18th fight and Alan is 19th fight of the day. Will post results later in the day.

    for an outsider it may seem like the irish lads are ****e :)

    Having fought at these tournaments before, I can assure you some of these countires send monsters over and how some of them make the weight, I do not know. I spoke to a 20YO Ukrainian with over 175 fights when I was at a tournament, so the Irish lads are always up against it.

    If youve seen the size of nortons legs, you would wonder how that danish lad stopped him with leg kicks, so they have to be top notch

    well done to the lads and lassies that fought
