Hey, i said id post here looking for posters advice, usually a good place to come and my local mechanic is on holidays! Basicly my almera twice now in as many weeks has started to lose power while driving along. I could be cruising along at 100km an hour and it just gives a big chuck and starts to lose power. It doesnt die but doesnt respond when i press the accelaerator. When i go down the gears it does the same thing, struggles to give power to the point i was barely able to go up hill.

Once i turn it off and let it cool down it seems to be going ok again. I should mention it was only serviced 3 weeks ago but that was only oil and filter as the spark plugs were supposedly done in january (only bought the car in March)

    Anyone any ideas?

    Thanks

hi i had 3door 01 almera 1.8 auto , back in 2011 had 70000 miles on it , it started to lose power while driving , could do 50mph on the flat but would crawl up a hill , however got it checked and it cam up lamda sensor . so got it replaced py a garage in fairveiw, and asked them to put in the sensor recommed by nissan it cost 280 euros , so went straight down to work in wicklow , it started to do the same thing , brought it back they checked it , and said it might be the petrol pump, so got used petrol pump put it in costing another 350, plus 280 for a full service , and the fault was still there ,
14 months later i was visiting a company for my work, and there was a mechanic working on a car nearby , i just for crack told him what was happing to my car , low and behold , he says i was trained on almears , and the fault is common on this car , and it can fool alot of people , he said it was " mass air flow sensor " he said get 1 from salvage it cost 50 euro much dearer new and he fitted for 20 , car now works perfect, and i did not need all the other parts hope this might help yo
