How to work out salary expectation?

Hi all. I'll be interviewing for a position soon, but the job itself is one where the salary range seems to be quite varied and with few concrete figures as to what's fair or not. Are there any ways to work out what's a good salary to shoot for? Or anyone to ask? Thanks!
