I have an Apple TV HD and was able to connect when I was testing it in my house and it worked fine. When I hooked it up in my girlfriends house it doesn't see my iTunes. Any ideas of any tweaks I need to make to the router (basic Eircom router) to get it working?

I haven't got an ATV but i think the reason it worked in your house was because your itunes was on the same local network as the ATV.

When you brought it to your girlfriends house it the ATV was on a different network and will never be able to see your iTunes

Edit* Or did you bring your iTunes library with you ?

It is on my Macbook Pro so iTunes was on the same network in both cases.

Have you tried turning off HomeSharing and back on again, on both your macBook iTunes and on the Apple TV? Not sure it will fix your problem but worth a go.

I've tried all the obvious things that could resolve it but nothing works which is why I'm thinking it could be a router setting issue as it seems to be the only thing left to try!!

Ah ok, i thought for a second you left the library at home, :p

The router firewall could be preventing the connection or refreshing home sharing mentioned above.

Also does you GF have itunes, hers could be interfering with yours

I've tried with the firewall off and in low security mode. No joy. She doesn't have itunes running anywhere on the network.

is mac address filtering on - in the router ?

the Eircom router is the problem... Ya need to update your firmware on it for it to work.... Look at other threads on here and it will explain it...

It's an older Eircom router so I guess it is an issue with the router so!
