The sneak peek videos are up so it's time for this weeks thread:

    A few things to note:

That's the second time Jesse James has been mentioned in the space of a couple of episodes.

Jesse Plemons (Landry from Friday Night Lights) looks to be getting more involved as we all thought.

How good would it have been if Walt had said to Walt Jr when he refused to leave: ''stay out of my territory'' :pac:

    Lydia is serious hot!

I've seen many people say this now and I can't help but let people know she did star in a Lesbian TV show on BBC recently called Lip Service, her character was killed off to let her do Breaking Bad.

    ...so yeah...get on that ****!

Every time they call Walt Jr "Flynn" I feel like punching something.

I love watching them previews but then hate that i am probably after spoiling parts of the episode on myself, but this one looks to be good. wonder will we see Walt
Kill the truck driver, which would be a new low for him as it would be the first innocent bystander he killed if I recall correctly. Or will he show some mercy, think my money on him killing him though as he is getting more ruthless lately "nobody is stopping this train." Surprised at Mike though not getting them to wear masks to conceal their identities

Are spoiler tags really needed when the title clearly says spoilers?

I'm not watching those videos as it'll just make me wish it was Sunday today :pac:

Does anyone else think that the whole purpose of Skyler White was to make her annoy you enough that you'd still root for Walt against her, even though he's beyond any mortal redemption? I only ask as I'm watching that snippet, and actively hoping Walt gets back into her good graces. It honestly makes no sense, they're both massive arses.

Holy ****. And we thought that Walt was beyond saving. Todd's a sociopath. I love how Jesse has become the peaceful gangster, ensuring that no one gets hurt. Sadly, he didn't take into account Todd's gun. Mind, it makes Brock's jippy tummy look like a day out in Disneyland.

Coffee's poured. Found a decent Stream... Here we go!

    Edit: I <3 Mike!!

What a fúcking heist!! I was on the edge of my seat!! Cracking episode. The kid at the end brought the whole thing back to the reality of what they're doing.

Had totally forgotten about the kid they showed at the start of the show. I was on the edge of my seat and my heart was beating like mad in the last few minutes! I thought Walt had screwed things up again with his delay in detaching from the train. I thought todd had left his bag on the train, but went back and watched it and he had thrown it off.

Todd totally came out of nowhere - that was some way to end the show!!

It'll be interesting to see the ramifications of Todd shooting the kid. More than likely Walt and Mike will be fine with it, but Jesse will be horrified.

This season has elevated this show to ludicrous new heights of brilliance and this episode was the best yet. It's so refreshing to see a show that keeps getting better as it goes on.

One of the best episodes of the entire series.

"Out burying bodies?", "robbing a train" :D

I don't think Mike will be fine with it, if he struggled with the idea of offing to innocent train drivers, then I don't think he'll be happy with the execution of a kid. In a weird way though I can see Todd becoming closer to Walt over this, as he'll become his go to guy to do things that Mike and Jesse aren't willing to.

Oh man, that final moment...easily one of the greatest in the entire series.

No half measures for Todd anyway :pac:

Did anyone else notice the foreshadowing again with the 'Heat' reference. The new guy shoots someone impulsively during the heist. Makes me think that things cannot end well with that Scarface scene in an earlier episode.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,511 ✭✭✭✭briany

To think some people thought Todd was a cop. Nahhhhh.

I like the humourous touches of the old Jesse when he gets excited. He was showing that in and around the time of the heist. Little touches like that add levity to the situation.

Was totally shocked when Todd shot the kid at the end. I think though, the shooting of a child will have some ramifications both legally and within the group. Is Todd the ambitious young sociopathic criminal that Walt will see as a fitting replacement to the ever questioning, stubbornly moral Jesse? I guess this is the catalyst for an eventual schism in the organisation.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,133 ✭✭✭FloatingVoter

Killing the kid was necessary. However, the missing kid plot will haunt them. I assume there will be a missing kid plot (acid bath memories of season 1).
I wonder if Todd is the last thing Walt sees come the season finale.
Excellent episode. Makes me want to watch an old western on TG4.

After it's all reported on the news that was boy killed near train tracks and Skyler knowing Walt is robbing a train, she's going to have another mental breakdown!

That last act was some tense stuff!

I love that Breaking Bad has somehow become television's best heist show this season :P

The sophisticated nature of the robbery of the methylamine in this episode is about 20 notches above the shambles of a one that they tried earlier in the series.

It's so bad. All they had to do was roll it away but for some reason they decided to carry it :pac:.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,553 ✭✭✭✭Dempsey

That was one of the best episodes of the show imo.

I think its going to be Walt/Todd vs. Jesse/Mike for a while over this although Mike did give a grand speech about leaving witnesses.

Walt bugging Hanks office is a step more than what Gus Fring would do! The fallout from Hank not seeing that it is Walt is going to be fierce, especially if the bugs are found

    EDIT

Again, Walts greed is there for all to see when the track was cleared. He had ~95% and still risked everything and Jesse nearly got caught on the line!

Probably my favourite episode of the entire series - the cinematography was stunning

Not unless they dispose of the body in some way?

I think Todd is gonna be a major player for the rest of the show. I think mike will approve that he shot the kid because he did say "no witnesses", Walt will agree but Jesse will be pulling his hair out (well, what he has at the moment) at the whole escapade.

They'll have to dispose of the kid's body and place him far from the scene because I presume he's from the same town the truck driver was getting a lift to-a huge can of worms has been opened if the local police start looking into his story in the course of their investigation.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,710 ✭✭✭✭Paully D

That ending  Really wish we could go straight into episode 6 now as I can't wait to see how it continues on from that.

Todd seen that as his opportunity to get right in there with the crew. A silly thing to do though, as a missing kid is going to set a lot more alarm bells off in law enforcement than some story he'd have gone back home with about what he saw in the desert. Todd doesn't have the conscience that Jesse has so I'd imagine he's going to be called on to do a more things for the crew as the episodes pass by and Walt will see him as a better partner for that reason IMO.

    Excellent episode overall.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,997 ✭✭✭Mr.Saturn

I liked Walt's mock-indignation when Mike reveals that Lydia had taken a hit out on him: "Really?....". Considering doing so is probably a cog in Walt's grander plan, I can see Todd becoming an invaluable asset to Walt.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,515 ✭✭✭✭2smiggy

Wow , what an episode, very tense train robbery, but the way Todd just killed the child WOW.

will be interesting how they finish up the eight episode , it's hard to see where it is going to go. Great stuff !!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,141 ✭✭✭Yakuza

Best. Episode. Ever. My heart was in my mouth during the robbery scene, and the shooting of the child came out of left field and left me stunned. I thought Todd was being a bit goofy, waving at the kid like he didn't get why this could be bad for them, but boy, was I wrong.

Can they top that episode? It won't be easy, but I'm sure the writers have saved some goodles for the finale :)

Jesse has shown significant value by contributing ideas - he suggested using magnets in the first episode, and he suggested a covert approach to robbing the train this episode. However I don't think that will do him any favours in his relationship with Walt. Walt certainly considers himself the brains of the operation. He might be pragmatic enough to use the ideas, but he's also egotistical enough to be quietly offended that Jesse has come up with them, rather than appreciative.

Walt liked Jesse because he was a former pupil of his who still let Walt boss him about. Now Jesse has got his act together somewhat. He's not the type of person to care about power for its own sake, but his sense of morals has made him speak up more and more. He's being forced to acknowledge what sort of person Walt is, and he's not going to be happy to accept it. Though naturally a fairly passive person, moral outrage will drive him to challenge Walt, and maybe in a more calculated manner than direct open confrontation this time. Meanwhile Walt is losing patience with Jesse not knowing his place.

Cynical Mike has been all too aware of Walt's nature all along - a fact which has maybe contributed to Walt displaying it more and more openly. Mike openly dispises him for it, and probably for his hypocrisy too. Mike is someone who appears bad, but is at root driven for concern for people in his care. Walt has painted himself as someone driven for concern for people in his care - but he is in fact bad.

The alliance is based on each partner contributing something different to the team. However there are now two people capable of each role. Mike and Todd are both capable of handling the dirty work. Jesse and Walt are both able to make the product, and to come up with creative solutions to problems they encounter. The split seems natural given that Mike and Jesse share similar philosphical outlooks, as do Todd and Walt: Two outlooks which are very much at odds with each other. The river card is Jesse - the split won't happen until he acknowledges Walt for who he is.

I think that we can say that Jesse has indeed over the course of the series become much more sure of who he is. Meanwhile, Walt's ego has slowly inflated over that same length of time. The thing that has remained consistent is the respect shown by Jesse towards Walter based on the teacher-student relationship they had in a former life but that thread that seemingly holds their association together looks set to unravel. Even the fact that Jesse is something of a follower will not stop him from freaking out and threatening Walter, Mike and Todd.

The thing about Todd that's worrying is that because he's so ruthless, he can do a lot of dirty work and he's pretty fearless in doing so it would seem but also could he really be trusted by any of them? It doesn't look like there'd be much to stop him killing any one of the organisation if that's what needed to be done. That's what may keep him on the fringe for now at least.

Poor kid waving innocently - prob wouldn't have thought twice about seeing three guys at a railway track.
Kinda liked Todd before that, now, he seems a ruthless mofo!

Unbelievable episode though, Gilligan strikes again!

For some reason, I thought the intro - the kid collecting the spider - was Walt when he was a kid or something. Not sure why :pac:

Wow. Just wow. This episode has left my jaw on the floor just like Half Measures and Crawl Space did. The episode would have been great but the ending sent it over the edge.

Here was me thinking that Todd was maybe a cop when I read that he wasn't who he seems. Well I think, I THINK, just maybe I was wrong about that. Don't think many cops would kill a kid without thinking.

I think the ramifications of this episode will have big effects on where the show goes from here. We know how Jesse feels about kids and his reactions to both Brock getting poisoned and Tomas gettting killed just proves that he won't just be ok with it. If Walt takes Todd's side then there is no way Jesse will be ok with that. But like some have said Walt will see in Todd that this is a guy who can do all kinds of dirty work for him and will probably want to keep him around. Mike is the wildcard here, I can't see him being ok with a kid being killed. Was there any need for it? They could have called the kid over and pretended they were engineers or something working on the train. How would he know any different, he wouldn't know what they were doing, he's just a kid.

Great episode. Damn this whole waiting a week thing!!!
