I wonder how far outside the south east area is it possible to Receive South East Radio on its 95.6 mhz frequency. I assume in a car the distance will be alot more than a pocket radio. I think its broadcast from Mount Leinster. I know in the past when it was on 99.2 from here I could receive it in Killmallock in County Limerick in the car. But its being on 95.6 for many years now prob over 10 years. I think Corks 96fm have a repeater on 95.6 in Mitchelstown so Id say that will block it out down Killmallock way.

This is the wrong forum to ask this but as a resident of Wexford I can tell you that SE Radio is by far the worst performing radio station, reception wise, that we receive, both on 95.6 and on 96.2. In the car it begins to break up around Arklow, which, as the crow flies, is probably 25 miles from Mt. Leinster.

It has reliable reception in Tullylease, Co. Cork on 95.6 (When I'm parked there the radio always is on 89.6 for RTE R1), the only interference is Clare FM on 95.5. Beat 102 103 on 102.0 also creates interference on Today FM 101.8. I assume Beat is higher up the mast and higher power (I also assume SER is directional)

I've periodically picked it up nearly Ballydesmond too, but it's never strong enough for RDS.

Reception from Mount Leinster gets worse past Arklow because of topography primarily. Reception of the RTE stations likely goes further cause of their higher power (100kW vs 4kW) and they are likely higher up the mast

You're correct about 96FM from Cork, they have a relay transmitter about three miles outside Mitchelstown on 95.6FM, as the town is in a valley and reception on 96.4FM from Cork City is poor, thus reception of South East Radio is not possible in this part of North Cork.
