Hi All, have got a small van, running very well, , but paintwork really bad, dose anyone know where in waterford city/county i could get it resprayed and an idea how much it would cost. and would it be worth getting it done? it has 140K on the clock, and don't know how long diesel engines keep running for,
    many thanks in advance :)

A good quality respray would be well upwards of 1.5k.

Is the paint just faded or is it scratched etc?

hi thank you, thats a bit to much :) its mostly scratched and small dents, another question if I may, the windows on drivers side and passagers are also very badly scratched, (he used to have his dogs in the front), is there any way to get them out? or would i need to replace them, and where would i start looking, its a 04, thanks very much for your help

Might make more sense to sell it and get a cleaner van..

Changing the windows isint a big job and a breakers yard should have plenty of them .

You could get the van wraped with a PVC coating not sure how much it costs

But if your willing to live with a few dents maybe buff/ t cut the van
Proably a valleting company would do it for around 100€

I said a good quality. There are numerous hours of prepping, flattening, filling, painting, rubbing, lacquering, baking etc in a proper respray.

Just spraying the same colour over the original one is not a proper respray.

You don't have to bake it that just speeds it up..there is not that much work in sanding and filling we have air Sanders nowa days takes all the work out then clean off and spray no hassle at all..give some guys a spray gun they think they are van gough charging stupid money

I wouldn't like to see a €500 spray job. I've an old car that needs to be painted and the quote I got was €2200 which I think is reasonable for a quality job considering materials could be €800 alone.

    I am a pannelbeater
And I done a friends berlingo van a few years ago " pre water based paint & regulations " it took 4 days
The primers , thinners , base coats . Sandpaper , tape . Cleaners , lacquers came to 600€ with a traders discount alone!

I have seen 500€ + labour paint jobs before a 12 year old with super soaker loaded with dulux would do a better job

whoever got 600 off you for that must have been laughing all the way to the bank..might be worth shopping around..whats your differance in a 600e for your mates berlingo and a 500 + labour of someone elses??
at the end of the day its not exactly the hardest thing in the world to do

You are obviously not a professionally trained and qualified sprayer as if you were, you wouldn't be belittling your trade like that.

I'm not a pro I never said I was I just don't belive in ripping someone off there is no way a sprayer is worth 450 a day x 2 plus his "600 for paint etc" seems expensive now would you not agree?

As I tried to explain the paint & primers etc cost €600 alone .
Not taking into account heating the oven power for extractor fans or my time 4 days plus .

I dident charge my friend for any of this

I could have wandered down to halfords bought 20 Aerosol's and trown that over his van and wiped the paint off the windows with thinners .
    20 cans of aerosols = €200 aprox
    I gallon of thinners = €20
Couple of scouring spounges lidl = €2
    Roll of masking tape =€2
    Hair dryer argos = €20
Box of 20 Heineken "to stand on while painting roof " = €20
    Labour 12h @ 20€ an hour =€240
    Total = €504
    And your down 4€ ????
