Im struggling with the following I encountered today.
1/when do you indicate. Say you are driving along and you move out to pass a bike and you dont pass the broken white line and there is a car behind you, should you indicate. I didnt today, I just looked in the right side mirror.
2/when you see parked cars in the distance and you gently move out so that you give them a car doors gap do you indicate , even though it is done gradually and you are not that close to the obstruction??. It is a narrow road and you are now over the centre of the road. There was a car behind me.I didnt indicate as I felt I was too far back , just again looked in side mirror

what are the rules re signalling

3/ I was turning right and guess what there was a bus from the opposite direction that was turning left. I stayed where I was and let the bus turn because I knew the bus needed the length of the road to turn. But I was not agreeing with the rule of proceed when light is green to centre of the road

    1. I would indicate here as I am moving my position on the road and it also alerts the following driver of the cyclist ahead. If you see a cyclist ahead take up your position early rather than moving our at the last minute. This helps alert oncoming drivers who may then give more space.

    2. Again I would indicate until I take up my new position but then cancel it in case following drivers presume I'm turning right ahead.

    3. What you did was correct. A green light only means "GO" if your way ahead is clear and it is safe to proceed. If the bus was turning to its left it would have right of way anyway.

I personally indicate only when I am changing lane, turning, overtaking (pretty much same as changing lane), when I am parking, when I am moving out from parking, on roundabouts and other basic cases, but I don't indicate when there is say a narrow road with cars and I am moving out a bit to center as I have this feeling some oncoming traffic may think I am turning then **** can happen. I started to think so after here on boards I saw thread, http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056704224 this one, so aftger reading it I try not to mess up my indications :D

I don't unsterstand your reference to that post as it refers to a vehicle indicating left. In the OP's scenarios, only the right indicator would be required. Even if it was left on, it would not pose the same danger.

I was just saying why I personally think that sometimes indicating might be a bit excessive

Always signal when overtaking a person, ie; the person cycling the bike.

It depends where the cars are. If it is in a residential area, as is propably the case if it is multiple cars, then I would not usually signal.
3/ I was turning right and guess what there was a bus from the opposite direction that was turning left. If the bus was comming from straight ahead, at crossroads, then it would not need to come onto your side of the road. So you should have moved into the middle of the junction ready to finish your turn.
