Switching to a new UPC cable

Hi. I have UPC currently wired to a few rooms in the house including the box room for the broadband modem. I now want to disconnect this room and put in a new cable from the outside UPC box to a uncabled room. I can see from the box one cable coming in and an f-splitter with 4 out connections going to the various rooms.

    1) Is it just a case of finding the box-room one, disconnecting and connecting the new cable instead?
    2) Can you connect this cable straight into the modem at the other end or do you need to put a wall socket in between? If so will any cable wall socket do?
    2) Am I allowed to do this myself or do I have to get UPC in?

    Thanks.
