Full Offers?

I received a conditional offer in May for an MA in Journalism and have since sent off my degree transcript. I got a pretty high 2.1 in my degree so I'm 90% sure this was good enough to get in.

I thought I would have received confirmation of a full offer by now so I'm starting to get really worried!

Does anybody have any sort of idea of when the full offers are usually given?

I had to email the DCU pac email address (at work now otherwise I'd link) to get them to change my status. Worth giving registry a shout, don't bother emailing them though, they seem to have a turnaround of about a week :/

I emailed the registry and they were seriously so unhelpful, just all with the "we don't know" line. Would you mind linking that email when you get the chance? The bank are seriously at me for a confirmation email so I can get my loan approved in time. It's a month until they want 60% of the fees like, it's bit of an ask!

Give Aaron Clogher (Education Officer) an email.. He should be able to point you in the right direction. Registry can be completely useless sometimes!!

    email: education@dcusu.ie

    Hi,

I have paid the deposit for this course and have now received the required grade for the course but I do not appear to have progressed to fully accepted for the course?

    Details:

Here's what I sent (I just put in my email, student number and pac details below...), they didn't actually respond but I got an update to my PAC profile saying I had been confirmed.

Yeah not a bad idea to give Aaron a shout, he's a nice guy and I'm sure he'll give you a hand.

I think you would be best contacting the course head who would be able to check it out for you. I was waiting on confirmation last year and rang the course head and he was out sick the weeks previous, he had a quick look at my file, said no problem accepting me in and that registry would email confirmation later in the day.

Ruthie, I thought you had already been accepted? They had sent me a conditional offer too in May/June which I accepted and have since paid the €500 deposit. I've emailed the fees office, they said they got my payment and am accepted into the course.

I emailed pac.registry and they said this

"Please be advised I am awaiting a reply back from the Programme Chair. You will receive an email as soon as there is an update to your application."

I'm going to send one off to the education officer now and hopefully he can clarify things.

Demeantor I paid the 500 euro deposit but I haven't received an official confirmation from them it still says this "Congratulations. You have been offered a place on this programme on the condition that you satisfy specific conditions. Further Information (**READ FIRST**). The specific conditions which you must meet are as follows" on my PAC.

What does your PAC say? This is seriously so stressful!

Don't hold me to it but I'd say you'll all be fine with getting in; they [DCU Business School] were on Twitter saying they've extended application deadlines for most [all] of the PG courses so I'd say they're struggling to fill them if that's the case.

The PAC system is a load of bollocks and is administered from Galway for NUIG/DCU and other places afaik.

I got a full offer a month ago. My PAC says "Following a review of the additional information you provided, it has been determined you have met the conditions of your offer." I also received an e-mail last week regarding fees for the course. So if you have not heard anything, it does not look good.

    What course was that for?

I also got the email about fees but mine said "For those of you that received conditional offers please note this email is not confirmation of a full offer. This will be send to you by registry via PAC."

I don't know about it not looking good cause I got a pretty high 2.1 in my degree and that was the only criteria I had to meet. It says on the website you need a minimum of a second class honors degree so I'm pretty sure I'm alright.

The course chair for each course is responsible for this. PAC just is an adminstrative tool. If you met the criteria they required, you have presumably got your place. Have you forwarded the relevant results to PAC? Also, might be worth contacting the course chair for your course, though bear in mind many academics are on holidays at the moment.

Same thing happened to me, I got a conditional offer for the MSc in Multimedia and i paid the 500euro deposit, and when I met the conditions I accepted the place but it still says on my PAC account "Congratulations. You have been offered a place on this programme on the condition that you satisfy specific conditions..." I rang DCU 3 times and emailed. They're not very helpful but they did say that its a mistake on their part and loads of people have rang about it, so I wouldn't worry too much..I got an email about paying fees though, so if you didn't get that it would be worth a phone call to the fees office or the registry if you can get them, although it is hard to get through to them

Ok I contacted the Education Officer who told me to contact the Enrollment Co-Ordinator responsible for Postgraduate Admissions. I emailed her yesterday and today my PAC was updated to a confirmed place PHEW!

Anybody else in the same boat I definitely suggest you contact Jennifer.Yore@dcu.ie, she responded pretty much straight away and sorted everything out. It's nice to know there's at least one person in DCU on the ball with these things.

It says the same. I'll be emailing Jennifer soon to confirm if I've a place in the course.

Do you know anyone else who'll be doing the course? We should have a session before the year begins :D

I actually don't know anybody else doing it at all. A bit terrified to walk into somewhere not knowing anyone!! Do you know anybody doing it?

Nope, I don't know anyone either! How many entrants are they taking? It would be nice to know someone going in definitely.

It says on the website up to 25 so it'll be a small enough class. I just came out of Arts so i'm used to having a couple of hundred people!

Well I guess you will very vaguely know me, albeit my screen-name from the internet haha. I'm pretty sure we won't be the only ones who don't know people anyways. I just hope it's a good year :).
