    Hi Guys

    The Auxilliary belt.

Sometimes also called the Serpentine belt.

Ok have a problem then. When I start my car there is a rattle coming from that area, after couple minutes of driving the rattle stops any ideas of what might be wrong?

A bit more info would help:

What mileage? How has it been maintained? Regularly serviced? I ask because the timing chain is in the same area!

Is it noisy when you start from hot or cold or both?

Have you tried starting the car without the belt in place? Is the noise still there?

It doesn't sound like the timing chain I know what that sounds like from a corsa that I had.

The inlet manifold can fail on these engines, it doesn't affect performance but causes a rattle.
There is a simple fix which involves a selftapping screw strategically placed.
    Could it be the manifold?
You can use a long screwdriver as a stethoscope with care and find the source of the rattle.

My guess is it's the auxillary belt, a new one is around €25-€30, could be fitted yourself. To see if it is put water on the belt when cold, if no noise then it's the belt.

He said that it's a "rattle".

I have heard them squeal and obviously replacing will sort that, but a rattle from a drive belt is a new one on me. :)

Check the drive belt tensioner for play as I had to replace the tensioner a few years back on one of those engines. Driver experienced similar problems.
