    Hello all.

A bit of a strange one here.

There is a Trek 1.2 locked near my house for the last 3 months. I thought it was someone working locally but it has not moved and is starting to go rusty. It looks fairly new. There is a Hollingsworth sticker on it so i rang them but they dont keep a record of serial numbers. If anyone here knows anything about it PM me. i have the serial number so if anyone can produce it i will gladly provide the location. I though about going to the guards and that will be my next port of call if we have no luck on here..

I assume its not stolen as why lock a stolen bike and then forget about it..

Could be dumped after being used in an armed robbery by one of them Dublin drug gangs!

Id cut the lock off it and take it in. It will stop it rusting further, and the owner doesnt know its there, or forgotten where they left it.

Call the gaurds, and do your best to find its owner but if they dont turn up, keep it

Worked with a guy that lost a couple of bikes in his time. Would lock them somewhere on a night out and forget where the next day...

Easier said than done. there is a fairly good lock on it..Also just my luck to attack the lock and then i get accused of bike theft!!

Hmmm, maybe because it would be bike theft.

What you describe is bike cruelty which is evil but not illegal. Best maybe put a small note in it for the owner to say you would be interested in buying it. Otherwise your just nicking a bike imho.

Sad but true, we need social workers for bikes.....

I have no intention of nicking it. A note would not do because the owner has not been near it in 3 months or more. i am surprised it is still intact. it even has a q/r front wheel which is still there...A call to the council would probably get it removed as rubbish but I at least have to try and find the owner..
