I get bored exercising, can I be productive whilst doing it?

    Hello All,
I realised the other day, one of the reasons I hate exercising is because it feels useless. I can't trick my mind into doing it (I always have great plans and stop after three days, no willpower!) because I'm not overweight or anything, but I really, really want to get fit. Is there a way I could exercise whilst doing something 'productive'. Like hedge-clipping or something. I want to tone my stomach and back muscles in particular. Some exercise I can do while hoovering maybe?

Sorry if this post sounds crazy, hope it makes sense...

Does your gym offer any classes? You might find them more stimulating.

I don't go to a gym....but we get free membership at college so I will have a look and see if they offer classes when term starts. Thank you:)
    Open to other suggestions too:)

I usually find that listening to some podcasts are a good way of tricking the mind into thinking you are doing something useful especially if there are some informational type ones that you are interested in. eg keeping up with latest technology information

You could always do something like alternating lunges while hoovering and squats while dusting the lower reaches of presses etc

Was going to say this. Or if there's a language you've wanted to learn then a podcast or audio lesson in it.

I know someone who is learning Spanish whilst training by listening to something like Rossetta Stone. Very impressive!

FYI - Rosetta Stone in my opinion (and several others I suspect) rarely produces language proficiency at any level.

Back on topic - Change your routine as often as possible and try things like burpees which is harder to get bored doing than saying running on a treadmill.
