    Hi

I'm looking for help regarding engagement ring shopping. I am looking to propose to my girlfriend next month and have started looking at rings. Have a rough idea of what I am looking and I am looking for any ideas of what shops to try in Dublin city centre. i have been into Rocks and John Brereton on Grafton Street. Any suggestions/ieas would be greatfully appreciated.

    Thanks

Seamus at Voltaire Diamonds always comes highly recommended.

If i were you i wouldn't choose a ring by myself, choose one together so that she is 100% happy with it. Good luck.

agreed... You can get a cheap silver and zirconia ring for proposing and then pick one together. If you want to go the bespoke route, would highly recommend Michael Horan. He made our wedding bands according to design, wish had known of him before we got our engagement ring as it would've come in a good bit under than what we paid in the shop.

I agree with the last 2 posts. I just proposed to my fiance last Saturday after much planning and help from other boardsies ;)

I had heard good things too about Voltaire Diamonds, it's mentioned all over the place. I also think that the day where the fella buys "the" ring before the proposal is not as common anymore. What I and many others went for was an experience together. It really depends on your OH. We had been away for the weekend anyway, but took a surprise extension to our trip where (after proposal) and stayed in the Wesbury off Grafton St. (unbelievably fantastic hotel), accompanied with ring shopping.

We picked up the ring yesterday afternoon in Applby's (off Grafton St. & can be also accessed via the Wesbury mall). We got a higher spec ring/diamonds than we had see elsewhere. Absolutely delighted with the experience and she's over the moon. I couldn't be happier with how the whole thing went. :D

Do you have to get it in Ireland? I went to Antwerp for mine, as did a few more on here. I'd recommend this guy, http://www.philippe-harold-jewellers.be/

ESL in powerscourt are excellent and i think they can custom make a ring.

    3K is a good budget
I think Voltaire can more than cater for your budget, I am waiting to book an appointmentwith them myself but they are on annual leav until monday 13th Aug
John Brereton on grafton street are very good, Fields in Dundrum had a great selection with various budgets catered for and very helpful

I got my ring from Voltaire for under 3K. Love it.
    Here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m_iAY0XE0Bs&feature=g-all-u&context=G2e1f206FAAAAAAAADAA

Really can't fault them, will definitely be back for wedding rings.

It was Stacey we dealt with and I think she would be a great help to a guy flying solo. She figured out my style very quickly and cut down the options she showed me so I wasn't as overwhelmed (we were terrified going in!) Their website really doesn't do them justice as their selection is huge.
We customised our ring by picking the setting and the changing the centre stone so if you don't fall head over heels with a ring, you can create your own! Oh, we also got a small inscription which was no hassle either.

If you are looking to walk out with a ring that day though, Voltaire are probably not your man as they make up the rings.
If I was your OH I would be so happy knowing you had designed the ring as opposed to just picking one in a shop.
    Best of luck!

I got an engagement from Liam Lynch Jewellers Market Parade Cork. I found him to be very good to deal with and much better value than anything we found in Dublin. They have a great choice and know their stuff. We went back recently and got our wedding rings and again got sorted out in jig time.
