    Hello all

Thinking of heading away to Madrid for a weekend sometime in November. Maybe catch a soccer match at the Bernabeu as well. Where would one get tickets?
Would love to hear from people who have been there re places to stay, places to see, eat out and go for a drink, etc.

    Thanks in advance

    Hola T,

Madrid is a great city and has great relaxed vibe to it. And because it is a very lived in city, food & drink are excellent and not expensive in comparison to the more touristy cities such as Barcelona. I have not been to a game in the Bernabeu but I'm sure it is easy enough to find out about getting tickets.

Take a look at this thread. I posted a few links in it for things to do in Madrid.

The hotel that I usually stay is the Intur Palacio San Martin. It is a very comfortable hotel in quiet square, but just one street back from the main square Sol and the main pedestrianised shopping streets. It's a 5 minute walk to Plaza Mayor, Plaza Santa Ana & the Palace. I have been about 8 times now and have not found any of the hotel booking sites to offer a better price than booking directly on their own website.

If I can be of any more help, let me know.

    Hasta luego,
    JT.

Checked the hotel but it is 345 eur for 3 nights. I was getting cheaper rates on booking.com. Thanks anyway. Are there any specific things you would recommend. Will look at that other thread as well.

I have seen the Segway Tours zipping around the city and it looks a fun way to see the place. It gets very good reviews on TripAdvisor.

We also happened upon this restaurant Taberna Maceira on our way back from the Thyssen museum towards Sol and loved the food & atmosphere.

football tickets are available through the official site

as for places to eat and drink, Puerta del Sol area is filled with bars/restaurants, gets very busy on friday/saturday nights, sunday is quieter

I guess Del Sol would be expensive enough if it is the main area.
Id love to see the place. Would weather in Nov be ok?

Personally, I would rate Madrid right up there with any of the great cities in Europe.

Beautiful city, warm people, fabulous architecture, great eateries. What more can a person ask for?

The weather? Be wary. It can get very cold there especially towards the end of November, and snow can even fall there then, not in great quantities, but it can get very cold.

Great choice for a weekend, have a ball!!
