Bad behaviour but it was not that bad of a headbutt was it?

Any pics of the after effects?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,710 ✭✭✭Corvo

Now if only we could somehow get Rivas into La Liga so he could nut Busquets we would be away with it...

I think there might be a case for a high leg here.

No "dodgy tackle/violent incident thread" would be complete without a contribution from Kevin Muscat.

Where to start as an Arsenal fan for the one's our players have been on the end of?

    Shawcross

    Taylor

    Balotelli

Can't find the Dan Smith one on Diaby.

I'm sorry CSON but that Shawcross tackle was unfortunate. No malice at all involved. Just unlucky.

    Blah blah blah.

I don't think any Shawcross defender can argue that it wasn't a 'Dodgy Tackle' and, well, that's the thread title isn't it? Go figure.

Really that is how you argue a point? Blah, blah, blah? Childish.

He went in hard but fair. Ramsey came out the worst. You could see on Shawcross face that there was no intent.

Jesus there was clearly no malice it was a 50/50..l.

    Disgusting this from Brown:

Also the Pogatetz tackle on Possebon was pure dirt

That's really singing from the Wenger hymn sheet.

Injuries are part of the game I doubt Arsenal are targeted or people go out to injure their players.

The likes of Fabregas, Gallas, and Van Perise could just as equally be considered thugs as Shawcross if you hold them to the same standards.

This is from Mexico vs. Senegal in the Olympics yesterday.

    Video quality is poor enough.

a dodgy tackle does not have to have any malice involved. Shawcross' challenge was absolutely reckless.

IMO it was not reckless. I think he went in hard for the ball, Ramsey did not shy back either. It was a tough challenge but not reckless.
Obviously we all have different points of view on this. I don't mean to undermine yours or cson's.

I'll stick photos in a link here as they are seriously NSFW, so bad that in Germany people still talk about it 30 years later.

This is the video of it on youtube which also shows the tackle and the injury, the astonishing thing is that Leinen gets up and runs over to have a go at Otto Rehagel , the manager of Bremen who he suspected of having told one of his players to rough him up a bit.

He needed 23 stitches but was back in training less than 3 weeks later. Hard man.

    +1 for Thatcher on Mendes?
Gerard had a horror of a tackle during the Derby once also.

Special mention to van Bosvelt on Irwin his knee bent an awful way first one I had seen live on tv.

You know, I used to think the term "not that kind of player" was just an excuse used by people like Tony Pulis to defend his excuse of a football team. But Kevin Muscat really is "that type of player". An utter scumbag.

Yeah he ended up getting a 5 year ban from Europe over it but didn't play on with Madrid anyway then died in a car crash. Real's Ultras still chant his name at the 7th minute of every home game. Once banned for spitting on somebody too.

High foot is generally a yellow. It was clearly accidental as he is going for the ball.

That last sequence of tackles is one of my lasting memories from that tournament.:)

Pepe should still be banned for his attack on Casquero and then Albin. He shouldn't be playing football.

What makes that clip is that he pretends he is injured after it!

Yea,wouldn't be the only time either.
Think it was Kompany he went in with his studs to the shin and dived in a heap and started rolling around holding his head.
    He's some boyo :)

Defender doesn't even appear to flinch.

    Him on the other hand....

I'd hope it was only accidental; if it wasn't he should have been looking at a jail term.

High foot is for something on the opposite end of the severity spectrum, it doesn't give you an excuse to commit GBH. He can see the guy coming a mile off and gives him a running jump kick to the face; i.e. he puts a lot of force behind it.

He was so lucky he went to ground at the last second,if that leg was still upright it would have been broken in bits.

I'm amazed we've gotten this far without mentioning the 2010 world cup final. That Dutch team thoroughly disgraced themselves.

Not the most violent but definitely one of the more famous incidents. Not the greatest way to retire from football.
