Hi guys just need to triple check,

Today I was filling my car up when I noticed I was putting unleaded into my diesel car, I stopped filling after 3.6 litres, there was a quater tank of diesel already.
I contacted the dealer serivce and he said if its under 5 Litres I should be ok once I filled the car up to the brim on diesel, can't remember how many litre but it came to €50 of diesel.
Will I be ok, Ive driven about 15 miles already and the car seems fine.

The car is 2008 Peugeot 207 hdi

    Thanks

Wont be a problem, my guess is that you will notice improvement to fuel consumption

the same happened to my Transit last week, had my nephew with me and he put €60 worth unleaded in while i went in to pay . Never even copped the receipt, anyway got up the road about 3 mile and it started to stall. it took me a while but i looked at the receipt i got and noticed it was a receipt for petrol, felt like choking him but got it towed to a garage near the job, the chap drained out the tank taking all the crap out of the end of it, cleaned out the fuel filter, i brought back and put another €60 diesel this time:o . To be honest i think since he cleaned that tank it`s been a bit better on fuel.

    It's fine.

    For your peace of mind

Yep. It will be fine. I put 14 litres into 65 litre tank of an Accord iDTEC and it was fine. I changed the fuel filter after a couple of fills and it was still in good shape actually.

Read a lot of horror stories but mine was fine. Won't be doing it again though!

It should be ok but petrol doesn't lubricate like diesel which is needed for modern injection pumps and injectors so even though its a small amount, I'd still let it run to maybe a quarter tank and then brim it with diesel(from the black, much larger nozzeled pump with diesel written on it:D) again a couple of times so as to dilute the petrol as much as possible.

Pesonally I would'nt even switch on the ignition on a modern diesel if there was petrol in the tank.

Yip, put 4l petrol (black handle on petrol pump) into a 70 litre (I filled it up with diesel after realising) and I got better mileage out of it. Thing is it looks as if I'm still getting somewhat better mileage 2 fillups later :-) not that i'd recommend doing it on purpose.

    Car is a 2008 2.4l JTDM 159

The petrol is likely cleaning some of the carbon deposits from your engine.

Mrs Doyle: Right you are, Bishop. Oh! Just one thing - is your car petrol or diesel?
Bishop Brennan: Leave it alone Mrs Doyle!
Mrs Doyle: Oh no, Your Grace, this is just curiosity. Is it petrol or...?
Bishop Brennan: It's diesel, it's diesel!
Mrs Doyle: Oh right. So it'd do a terrible amount of damage if I was to put petrol in it?
Bishop Brennan: Yes. It would completely ruin the car's engine.
Mrs Doyle: Oooh! Well! I certainly won't be doing that then!
