Just curious as to how long before you have a bite to eat before your weekend training spin and also what would you have as the meal or snack and also what would you bring on your training spins with you i.e breakfast/protein bars and also obviously water bottles

I usually have porridge with honey and raisins an hour or so before a ride and take a banana and jelly babies with me, or a nutri-grain bar or two, or fig rolls. If its a longer ride I take a bottle with a tab of high 5 in it, and a bottle of water, or if 2 hours or less, just the high 5 bottle.

Normally for the Swords sat spin I have a small bowl of granola with fat free yoghurt.A slice or 2 of wholegrain toast with jam or marmalade and a very strong freshly brewed coffee.
For the spin as its usuallly a max of 80km ,albeit fast-ish, I will have 750ml of water with 2 High 5 tabs dissolved in it OR if I have had a hard week in work I will take 500ml water with 1 high 5 tab before I leave the house and 500ml of water mixed with High 5 extreme for the journey and I usually throw a gel in my back pocket as a bailout measure in case Killanerr or Staro are out trying to split the race group in half

Give a dog a bad name :o,i didnt even go to the front of of the group this week also turned off early so that would explain the how the sprint was so easy ;)
As for diet for training i have a bowl of cereal mix in some blueberries and a yogurt washed down with a cup of tea and a glass of water
i dont bring anything on the bike for runs up to 50km other than plain water
For spins up to 100km i bring banana and one gel i also pop a hi5 top into the water on our thursday run we stop for coffee i that case i dont bring any thing
I do enjoy our coffee stops lots of tall stories

    I like these:

Pain to get open while moving though.

Bring gels as a just in case measure.

Bananas also good, easy to open, really quick to eat.

Water wise, always use 1 tab of High5 in the 750ml - think this is more to prevent cramp etc than energy gain. If it's a long spin I'd put lucozade or powerade in my other bottle.
