Television repair? LCD kaput!

My sharp aquos LCD with less than 60 hours use has suddenly given up the ghost:

It started by having black streaks on screen that faded with use - this was happening quite regularly.

The other day the picture was flashing. When I turned it off the television started making a twittering noise, so I switched it off at source. Although initially happy that the twittering noise did not resume upon turning on the socket again the next day, I was less happy when turning the television on had no effect. The LED on the front of the screen now flicks from red to green automatically, without any response from the remote control, or any activity on screen.

Really annoyed about this because it was in the spare bedroom for the first 18 months I had it - it's only in the last seven months that it has become the main tv - meaning its out of warranty!

Anybody know of any TV repair guys in Dublin. :o

I would get in touch with Sharp!

A T.V. shoud not break down after 60 hours use.

i`ve a TV currently in for repair in here:

They were cheaper than MF services (not sure if they are better but will find out soon)

If you have proof of purchase take that tv back to the store. The contract afaik is between you and them not the manufacturer. This has been used before and people have successfully gotten their tvs fixed at no cost to them.

There is examples on boards and a rte programme using it when warranties have expired.

    Hi Eddie,

Picked up the TV a couple of weeks back. It was a 19" Samsung and the main board had to be replaced. I was quoted €135 by MF services and John Conroy(Tvrepair.ie) charged me €100. He tried to replace the board with a spare board he had in stock to try save me some money but it wasn`t a correct fit (he sought my approval before attempting this). With my approval he ordered a new board from Samsung and replaced it no bother. He even gave me my old board back...
I was very satisfied with the service:-)
