    Hi guys,

Looking to buy a new dell laptop, budget of €1,000 - €2,000 but I know very little about the different types of laptop.

    What im looking for:
    -16" or bigger Screen
    -Good battery
-Will last a good few years
-Fast web browser (have good broadband at home)

I only really use the laptop for casual use and for surfing the web. Also want Microsoft office on it, which is an extra on the website for all I think.

If anyone could give me some advice on the best type of Dell laptop I should get? I assume the best place to buy is the Dell website?

I had a look online and was looking at the Inspiron 7720, no idea if this is best suited for me or not :S

    Thanks in advance!

A member of my family got a dell laptop. It was not carried around much and it never fell out of the person hand or off the table it was used on.
They had it for less than 3 years and it just stopped working.
I would go to a few computer shops and see what you are looking for in real life.
You can see what the screen colour is like and what the build quality is like also.
See if you can bring a friend with you who knows about computers so they can give you some advice is what laptop would suit you the best. I did this when I brought my own laptop. You have a good budget for what you are looking for.
In regards to microsoft office you can get a basic microsoft office or the business version ( the business version is more expensive).
Get a laptop with as much ram as you can as it helps the computer speed.

Compared to the regular Inspiron 17R (which also has the anodized-aluminum base), you'll be paying more than 300 Euro extra for the "Special Edition" with a GT 650M and a bigger hard drive, quite a hefty premium for something you may not need all, since you only need the laptop "for surfing the web" and Microsoft Office.

The 17R with a 3rd gen Core i5, Intel HD 4000 graphics, 6 GB RAM and a 1 TB hard drive costs €769 plus € 82 for MS Office 2010 Home/Student. This should be more than adequate for your requirements.
