black tie wedding, dubai

hi, im really not the most fashionable person in the world and lack any kind of imagination when it comes to wedding outfits.

i tend to stick to 'classic' dresses, think red, blue, black in a kind of victoria beckham, jackie O, straight type dress.
not great with accesories either!

so am going to a black tie wedding in October, in Dubai! i understand this is full length, evening type gown, that i will no doubt NEVER wear again! but bearing in mind the weather will still be warm ( mid 20's i believe ) what am i going to wear???!!

i would really prefer to spend as little as possible seing as im unlikely to ever wear it again, plus im most definately not a 'bling' girl, any evening/debs type dresses i have sen are VERY bling!

any and all suggestions welcome!

I'd go with a maxi dress, keeping it a little safe. As although its a black tie wedding, Ive been to a few where not many girls actually go in 'black tie' attire! But as it's Dubai I'd go with a nice maxi that you could get wear out of it maybe next summer? Something simple that you could dress up with accessories and shoes, or just a nice dress that needs little accessories! Some ideas... depending on your style

those monsoon dresses are gorgeous.

im mid 30's, so no spring chicken!
if i could get away with 150 euro id be delighted. its costing a fortune just to get there and stay for the week.
( its a family wedding and my mother wants me to go with her, so not much choice! )

if you tried on the dresses in monsoon and then bought it online, you would save a bit by buying in sterling.

wait for a sale weekend for debenahams if you like something there, they usually have 20-25% off sales pretty offen

buy online and use www.fatcheese.ie to get a cashback on your purchase (small amount but everything helps!)

Did you try TK Maxx? personally I never see anything nice in there but most people swear by it. Or Kildare Village. Karen Millen and Coast have outlet stores there.
