Looking at getting a bike on the cycle to work scheme.

    Mudguard €25
    Helmet €49
    Lock €49 - €39

For what I am going to use if for what would be the best, Want a light bike thats not to hard on going up hills but don't want to spend mad money

Tested all 3 and they all seem ok but just looking for users opinions anything I should add/ remove or any other shops I should Try?

    Just as a note

None of these have disc breaks

Would that make a difference in the wet?

    Thanks

    Got 2 more quotes

€533.30 from The cycle superstore in tallaght the make of the bike is Escape 3 and also includes single Pannier and allen key skewer

€648(-10% disc) for a Trek 7.2 and pannier at €50 from wheelworx in Lucan

Think I will go for the nut based wheel as will have it locked at times in public places. Also lock is a U bar with lead.

Anyone want to give me any advice/view would appreciate it

    Thanks

Yes it would, are they hydraulic discs brakes? They are definitely worth it.

I'm not sure i'm no expert, i have them brakes on my 2004 Stumpjumper and they are excellent. My 2010 Giant city bike has V-brakes and they really go to pants through the years and i've tried adjusting them but never get them like new. were as my disc brakes always felt new and have that brand new feeling still. Definitely get them if you can.

In what way did the v-brakes go pants?? Have to say I've never had a problem with V-brakes.

Just had a look around and to get the v-brakes cost a bit more and don't think it would be worth it

If they go belly up price more to fix them correct?

So many bikes so many brands any user want to say what they think is the best and lightest for what I will be using it for?

Will be buying from one of the below shops as live on Northside

    Duff Cycles Santry (www.duffcycles.com)
    City Cycles Fairview (http://www.citycyclesd3.com/)
    Bike Hub Howth (http://www.thebikehub.ie/)

Impressed with Bike Hub but they are the most expensive. Still have to visit City Cycles (http://www.citycycles.ie/) so will check them also.

    Views....

    Thanks

Going for the Giant Rapid 4

Getting it from Bike Hub in Howth pretty decent folk in there. Not going to get panniers or quick release may get some rain gear added, although will keep an eye on Lidl & co.

More expensive to get the disc breaks so held of on getting them.

Also has skinner wheels and much lighter lets hope little punctures ..true??

Thanks to everyone who posted back advice
