I'm not in town but a friend was driving over past Eyre Sq and said there are 'a few' ambulances, fire engines and police there. Anyone know what's going on? My neighbour's son is around there and hasn't his phone on, she's a bit worried.

Really helpful. I'll tell her, thanks:mad:

I'm not rubbernecking (I'm too far). Someone just can't get a hold of their son (he's probably on the lash, but that doesn't stop her worrying!)

I walked thru about 10-15 mins ago, tell her to chill.

One ambulance, a paramedic appeared to be talking to a girl, no blood in sight, and no one around looked stressed the way they would if there'd been a major incident.

Another ambulance went thru on it's way to somewhere else.

No more than the normal number of guards around.

It will be a messy night, but it's not bad yet.

Nothing on Galway Advertiser Facebook page about it and they are usually very quick off the mark with any incident in the city and county. I'd say it's nothing major.

I was in Eyre Sq around an hour ago. There was an ambulance beside the fun fair but it just looked like some drunk had keeled over. The city centre seems well policed to be fair tho the Gardai.
