Chest valve leak

    Lads,

Anyone know anything about putting a seal into a chest valve?
The 4 lever chest valve on the wrapper has started to weep from one of the levers. I loosened the allen screws on the lever and took it off, and can see that the oil is coming from the shaft which goes through the chest itself. Is there a seal or an O ring in this small shaft? If so, how is it removed?

Or am I looking at having to buy a whole new cast iron section for it?

Did you pull the shaft out completely?, You'll see the o-rings on the shaft, They're probably worn at this stage!

Is it as simple as just pulling out this shaft? I thought it might screw out or something?

You'll need to take the 4 allens off the top and the 4 off the bottom, That uncovers the large allen in the bottom holding the spring in place, Open that, Then pull out the spring and the shaft will pull out the top!

Thanks pajero. Followed your instructions at the weekend and put a new o ring back and front. Seems to have done the trick!
