Hi, i dont know if i am posting in the right section but i hope i am. I am male and work in retail shop. Earlier today i was working when a co worker and i were talking about another co worker who had said apreviously that i was a tall attractive guy...when the manager heard us speaking, as the co worker was kind of saying out loud so everyone could hear, he said 'was it dark when she said this' and 'the lights must have been out'. I am not sure if he was joking or not or why it hurt and maybe i'm being too sensitive...what is your opinion? i appreciate the feedback.

Dont know your manager but I suspect that it was a joke.
Even if it wasnt I would take it that it was a joke and forget all about it and dont let it bother you.

God, chillax! I call my male friends ugly all the time, having a laugh etc. I'm sure it was harmless banter. I'd be more worried if he was telling you how attractive you are tbh.

    It's a friendly joke.

That's banter between colleagues and I wouldn't worry about it.

Only if happens a lot would I think it's something more serious.

Slag him back next time. Mildly.

Ah that would be the norm in my office. Just banter don't worry and relax a little.

Take a picture of yourself on a phone and show it to a random girl for the laugh when you are out next time in a club and ask do you look ugly. Show it to her and her friends and they will probably tell you "NO!"
Seriously. This is just BS. You aren't ugly.

This is what's known as office banter. To take this in any other way than the lighthearted and jesting way it was meant is over-sensitive and paranoid of you.

Why isn't your post headed "Co-worker called me tall and attractive"? That was also said, and you seem not to value the compliment.

Your manager's response is typical Irish banter, not to be taken seriously. I suspect that you have not been exposed to much of that sort of thing. You get used to it.

Agree with all the above, plus, have you considered the manager might be jealous that she wasn't calling him attractive?!!

Why would he need to show them a picture of himself, when he is actually there in person?!!

OP - it's called slagging. (Those phrases are actually both well used phrases all over the country... word for word!! So not only is your boss a bit of a slagger, he's also not very original!)

As another poster rightly pointed out, in the same exchange you were also called attractive!
