The passenger side inner tie rod needs replacing on my wife's 03 focus,i like to do these jobs myself, what i want to know is it best to replace other side at the same time and should i replace the tie rod ends while i'm there.
Also do i need a special tool for taking the inner tie rod off?

    Anyone?
Also i'm getting low battery voltage code and am thinking its the alternator belt as there is a loud screech when you start the car so i'm guessing the belt has stretched and isn't charging properly, would i be on the right lines?

Personally I would only do the affected one if the good one has no play in it. The passanger side ones nearly always wear out first because of the awful quality of the roads here!

A screech would suggest the aux belt is loose or worn. Have a look at it, and see how tight it is. I would usually tighten it so that you can turn it just less than 90 degrees along the longest side. If the belt looks fine with no wear or anything I would be tempted to leave it. It isn't the end of the world if it fails (usually...I have heard stories of the aux belt breaking through the timing belt cover and taking out the timing belt too!)

The screech could also be coming from the alternator itself, but hopefully it is just the belt!
