Just wondering if any of you have experience or views on this bike, back cycling for the first time in 10 yrs and this was recomended to me in the bike shop (had gone in wanting a hybrid) giving me a good deal too as the 2013 models are coming out in the next few weeks

Going to use it initally on a 10 wk beginner programme 3/4 x 1 hr rides a week and 1 x 2/3hr ride on weekends.

All opionions welcome, thanks in advance

    Bren

Trek make decent bikes. I'd consider the 1.5 to be an "entry level, decent spec bike" and it has all you need to get you going. Beyond this price point, you're into diminishing returns for your extra cash.

You can get better value by buying online, but if this is your first bike, and you are happy with your LBS, then stick with them.

Because of the name, you will also find it very easy to sell on if when that time comes. ;)

I have the 2010 model and would say it is an excellent bike for getting into road cycling. Am getting a bad case of upgrade-itis now but for the past two years I have gone from zero to doing 100-180k sportives and, bar one puncture, the bike has never let me down. Not sure if much has changed since the 2010 model but I would say if you've tried it and you like it then go for it.

Thanks for the replies guys gonna go for it, picking it up on Wednesday so if you see an overweight guy on a wobbly 1.5 in south Dublin that evening give me a wide birth!
