Is it possible to change the taxation class from private to commercial? I want to convert an estate car by removing the back seats and using it to carry a display product for business

I might be wrong, but as far as I know you don't need a VAT number, after all many businesses are not vatable or below the threshold!
I think you'll need a DOE cert which can be issued by particular garages only, they'll inspect it to make sure it's converted. that has to be done annually. I;m not sure if you need anything else :)

If you don't have a VAT no then you will need a PPS no.

You'll also need a RF 111A Goods Declaration form.

You might also need a weight docket.
