2nd Interview Questions

    Hi

Can someone tell me what to expect (if I get called for a second interview), which if it happens will be late notice to ask on Boards, which is why I am doing it now?

I have had second interviews in the past but quite often they were straight forward and not probing but I expect (if I get called) this might be. Would be grateful if anyone has any information re questions they were asked at a second interview.

    Many thanks

In my experience the second interview has always been a "let's introduce him to our boss before we offer him the job" sort of thing. So the questions have tended to be a lot more personal and casual. For example, my area is IT but I am never asked IT questions in the second interview.

Well I haven't been called for a second interview yet (by the end of the day if I hear from them I have the interview, if I don't I wasn't successful). I've got a handful of questions from the internet so I'll work on those, I imagine the questions will be 'give examples of this, that and the other' which I am dreading because it's been so long since I've been at work! And yes, I think it will include meeting the MD. It's for an Office Administrator/PA role though it was only advertised as Admin!! If I don't hear back, I will be absolutely fine with that and that's the god honest truth - there's an aspect of the job that I am a bit worried about and if I do hear, I'll be delighted so either way it will be grand.

Hi, from personal experience the second interview means it's down to you and another candidate so you still would need to do as much preparation as before. It's likely that there will be additional people sitting in such as the MD and maybe another observer. I think at this stage it's more to do with soft skills such as how would you fit in as a person so they might be looking for the people skills at this stage. Good Luck!

Yes, it would be down to the last two candidates and the MD would sit in and rightly so, as the person would be working for him. The first interview had two people interviewing (they said they were looking for the right person) - in my experience of interviews, it's rare to have one person interviewing anyway. More than two which I have had in the past is not good .

I definitely gave them the impression that I am very much a people person and prefer to work with people (which is what this job entails). I'm pretty sure they could pick that up from me. It would be a lot of multi tasking and working to deadlines (deadlines I have done but the multi tasking not so much of that), I've been busy alright but this would be vvvvvv busy!

Thanks for your good wishes, I must have done something right, I have a second interview tomorrow. Even getting this far has done wonders for my confidence (even if I don't get it) which I will, I've gotta be positive!! :)

Great. Well done. To get to the shortlist is a great achievement and a good confidence booster so it will stand to you for future applications but I'm sure you'll do the business at the 2nd interview. You've obviously got a CV that got their attention and came across as a person they wanted for their company so if you can keep that in mind I'm sure it'll go mightily.

I've had some very good feedback regarding my cv (I have a lot of experience) but have not worked in an office in four years. Had a 2nd interview this morning. All the questions I researched I wasn't asked (but good for future interviews if this doesn't work out), it was one person (HR Manager) and all she wanted to know was my capabilities, as I've had a long time off. I was honest in that I've been out of the market a long time, but haven't lost any of my skills but I now feel I may have been too honest and don't feel very confident of my chances! As I said before, it's not the be all and end all of it if I don't get the job, getting to this stage has given me more confidence but obviously a positive result at the end of it would be ideal.

I'm just waiting for the tears of joy to come (sorry, that sounds corny) but this week has been busy and this job will be a huge challenge for me, scared but looking forward to it too and hoping it will be a job I will thrive in. Who would have thought I would look forward to getting back to a 9-5 routine?? I'm happy I will be able to contribute to bills and not feel guilty anymore.... :)

Congrats OP. Nice work. Remember doing 3 rounds of interviews with wyeth a few years ago. There was one more round which I was not called for.

    Hello,

I worked as a recruiter before and what important.
    - You know about their business. Look at their website and know what they do!
    - Sadly in Ireland the most qualified doesn't get the job it comes down two a second int, it;s how sound you are and can they get along with you.
    - Everything you say needs to be backed up it a work experience example
    - question people really fluffed ... describe a time when you have a problem with a manager and what did u do, or where do you see yourself in 5 years.. (the amount of time people answered "married" is shocking.
    - be oozing with confidence and really really convey you are hungier for this job that the other candidate.

    Hi there
They did ask me what if I knew anything about the company and I rolled off a lot of stuff - they were impressed, I wasn't been cocky but very prepared.
I have lots of experience and I've always gotten on with everyone I worked with (obviously everyone has different personalities and under pressure people will act completely different) but we just have to live with that. I believe they know I will fit in as I was offered the job.
I wasn't really asked hard questions but I did offer them examples of previous posts I've had.
I definitely got the message across that I've got lots of enthusiasm and drive and ready for a challenge so please god I will deliver good results!
People who give silly answers to questions and don't prepare make life easier for other candidates so I'm not complaining about them..

    Good to have the feedback.
