What caused alarm to go off?

    I have a 2005 skoda octavia.

Today I was in the house and heard the car alarm going off. Flicked unlock on key fob and it stopped. Hit lock on it. About 5 mins later it went off again. This time I moved it, parked it in closer to front door. I also cleaned out some rubbish that was on front seat.

Now it wasn't a great day here but when the alarm went off it was actually sunny and fairly warm. I had a cling film wrapper from a sandwich on passenger seat. Could it be possible that the heat was causing wrapper to move slightly and trigger alarm sensor? Or is that a daft idea

It's annoying me to think it could go off some other time when I'm not around

If any of the windows is open just a tiny bit, the wind can set it off.
Make sure all the windows are closed fully.

    Open window?

My previous VW Bora's alarm was so sensitive that a passing motorbike with a loud exhaust would set it off. I turned down the shock sensor and it solved the problem.

The WiFi on mobile phones can interfere with the alarm and set it off on some cars.

A bottle of water inside the car can do funny things to microwave sensors.

I'd be worried that someone's playing silly buggers in an attempt to have you leave the alarm off overnight.

The sensors could just be broken! Happened to me on my Integra a few years ago. It would be fine one day, and then the next day it would go off every few minutes without anybody near the car. Got the sensors replaced and all was perfect after that!

This happened me a few years ago a few nights in a row in the previous house I lived in. Don't think there was anyone near the car and the only theory I could come up with was that I happened to be watching UTV each night it happened and the signal was via cable from UPC. The car was parked fairly close to where the cable came into the house.

The only explanation was that it was the cable signal or UTV or a combination of both...... ??
